Championship Information and Conditions of Competition

The Trans-Mississippi Championship is open to male amateur golfers with an official USGA handicap (or equivalent) not exceeding 2.0 under the USGA Golf Handicap System and are members of Trans-Mississippi Golf Association member clubs. The Trans-Mississippi Golf Association reserves the right to issue special invitations to amateurplayers of national and international reputation. The starting field size is limited to 144 players. Deadline for entry is June 1, 2012. Any player issued a special invitation to participate (waiving the Trans-Miss member club requirement), must submit their entry form and entry fee on or before April 1, 2012 in order to be assured a position in the starting field. Entries of invited and exempt players received after April 1, 2012 will be processed with all other entries.

Rules of Play

The Rules of Golf established by the USGA and published in the Rules of Golf booklet for 2012-15 shall be in effect, including those special conditions or local rules established by the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association for this championship. Any notice or condition stated in the entry form shall also apply.

Championship Information

Entrants in the championship must have attained the age of 19 years or older on or before July 10, 2012, have a USGA Handicap Index (or equivalent) not exceeding 2.0 and be a member of Trans-Mississippi Golf Association member club (membership requirement is waived for those entrants receiving a special invitation from the Committee). Entrants younger than 19 years as of July 10, 2012, may participate in the championship if duly invited by the Committee. The championship will be individual stroke play contested over 72-holes. The Committee may shorten the competition in the event of inclement weather. A sudden-death play-off will be conducted in the event of a tie. All contestants must walk during all stipulated rounds (carts may be used in the practice round only). Caddies are permitted at the player’s expense. The tournament field is limited to 144 players. There will be a cut to the low 60 scores and ties following 36 holes. Players advancing to the final round will play 36 holes on the final day.

Entry Procedure

1. All entries must be submitted on the Official Entry Form. Incomplete or inaccurate entry forms will not be accepted.
2. Entry applications must reach the Trans-Miss office prior to 4:00 pm, June 1, 2012.
3. The entry fee of $295.00 (paid via check or money order payable to the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association) must accompany each entry. No refunds after the entrant has been assigned a position in the starting field.
4. Entrants will be notified if they have been assigned a position in the championship on or before June 15, 2012. If the number of entries received exceeds available spots, a waiting list will be created. Spots in the starting field will be offered to entrants on the wait list through July 9, 2012.
5. All entry fee checks will be deposited when received by the Trans-Miss. If an entrant is not offered a position in the starting field by July 9, 2012, a full refund will be made by July 29, 2012.

Practice Round

Oak Tree National will be available for a practice round on Monday, July 9, 2012. Confirmed entrants must call (785) 842-0155 or email golf@trans-miss.com prior to July 1, 2012, to obtain a practice round starting time, otherwise, practice rounds will be available only after on-site registration. A practice round is not guaranteed.

No practice shorts on course permitted and only one ball played. A golf cart may be used during the practice round only. All contestants must walk during all competition rounds. A caddie may be used.

Groupings and starting times for Rounds One and Two will be posted at www.trans-miss.com and at the club on or before July 9, 2012.

Tournament Schedule

Monday, July 9 – Required Player Registration, Practice Round

Tuesday, July 10 – Round One, 18 holes stroke play

Wednesday, July 11 – Round Two, 18 holes stroke play (cut made to low 60 players and ties)

Thursday, July 12 – Round Three & Four, 36 holes stroke play (playoff, if necessary, to determine champion)

Contestant Information

Conduct

In the best interest of the competition, “unbecoming conduct or behavior” will not be tolerated. Entries are subject to rejection at any time either before or during competition. Participants are also requested to observe host club rules and keep in mind that you are a guest of the club as well as a representative of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association.

Dress Code

Players must be properly attired in collared shirts and slacks or Bermuda shorts of conservative length. Gym, tennis and “short” shorts are not allowed. Competitors are expected to be neat in appearance and personal grooming. Soft spiked golf shoes will be required. This dress code applies at all times that the contestant is on club grounds. All dress code provisions also apply to caddies.

Players’ Reception and Banquet

A Players’ Welcome Reception and Banquet will be held at Oak Tree National on Monday, July 9th. Spouses/guests may attend with pre-payment of $35.00 to the Trans-Miss. Attire is business casual (jacket is requested for gentlemen).

Carts and Caddies

All contestants must walk during all stipulated rounds (a cart may be used during the practice round only). Caddies are permitted at the player’s expense. The host club employees a staff of caddies. Information on caddies will be provided to players that have been assigned a position in the starting field.

The Trans-Miss has preferred player rates at the following hotels near the golf course.  Both hotels are about 10 minutes from Oak Tree National.  When making your reservation, please mention that you are participating in the Trans-Miss Championship to receive the preferred rate.

A limited number of guest homes are available for contestants only. Please make your written request via email to golf@trans-miss.com by June 1, 2012. Confirmation will come from the Trans-Miss office by June 15, 2012.

Food and Beverage at Oak Tree National

The entry fee includes four lunches at Oak Tree National during the four days of the championship. Meal tickets will be issued to each contestant at on-site registration. Additional tickets may be purchased from the Trans-Miss for $15 each. Alcohol and sodas are at the players’ expense.
