Player Information & Schedule

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Trans-MississippiGolf Association, I would like to thank you for your entry and participation in the 109th Trans-Mississippi Championship to be held at Oak Tree National, July 9-12, 2012.  The following information is provided to you so that you can make travel arrangements, know and understand your responsibilities as a guest of Oak Tree National and as a contestant in the event and to answer any questions you might have.

Please read the entire memo upon receipt as there are some items that may require action on your part prior to your arrival at Oak Tree National.

In the event you must withdraw from the event, your earliest possible notification to the Trans-Miss will be appreciated.  Use the above email address or phone number.  No refunds will be made at this point.

Lodging:  Both hotels are approximately 10 minutes away from the host golf club.  When making your reservation, please note that you are participating in the Trans-Miss Championship to receive the preferred rate.

Contestant Registration:  Required contestant registration will be held on Monday, July 9th from 7:30 am through 2:00 pm at Oak Tree National inside the clubhouse.  You must register prior to your practice round.  If you do not plan to arrive at the club until Tuesday, July 10th, please notify the tournament Committee of your late arrival.

At the registration you will receive player gifts, updated event information and have the opportunity to sign the contestants’ appreciation scroll.  The registration will take you 10 to 15 minutes depending on the number of other contestants involved in the process when you arrive.

Dress Code:  Proper golf attire is required.  Blue jeans, designer jeans, tee shirts, tank tops and “cargo-style” pants and shorts are prohibited.  Shorts must be mid-thigh.  Golf shirt must have a collar and the tail must be tucked in.  If a hat is worn, the bill must be worn forward.  This dress code will be used in conjunction with any additional dress code used by the host club.  This policy is in effect for the practice round and any other time you are the club premises.

Practice Round:  A complimentary practice round is available to registered Trans-Miss contestants on Monday, July 9th.   The starting times will be from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.  In order to obtain a practice round starting time you must contact the Trans-Miss office via email golf@trans-miss.com or phone (785) 842-0155 prior to July 4th.  Do not call the Oak Tree National golf shop, as they have been instructed to refer you to the Trans-Miss office.

If you do not reserve a practice round time prior to your registration, you will be assigned a practice round starting time at the time of your registration, if a space is available.  Golf carts are allowed for the practice round only (at the player’s expense).  A limited number of caddies are also available through the club throughout the championship at the player’s expense.  Contact the golf shop to reserve a caddie.

As a courtesy to your fellow competitors, limit your practice to the play of one golf ball at any hole.

Format: The tournament format for 2012 is a 72-hole individual stroke play championship.  There will be a cut to the low 60 players and ties following 36 holes.  Players advancing to the final round will play 36 holes on the final day.  The committee may shorten the championship in the event of inclement weather.  A sudden-death playoff will be conducted in the event of a tie after 72 holes.  All contestants must walk during all stipulated tournament rounds (carts may be used during practice round at player’s expense).  Caddies are permitted at the player’s expense.

Schedule of Events:

Monday, July 9th – Practice Round (8:00 am to 3:00 pm starting times, which should be obtained from the Trans-Miss office before July 4th).  Contestant’s banquet begins at 6:30 pm at the Oak Tree National clubhouse.

Tuesday, July 10th – Round One stroke play.  Starting times from #1 and #10 tees at 7:30 am and 12:00 pm Complimentary cookout and long drive contest begins at 6:45 pm

Wednesday, July 11th – Round Two stroke play.  Starting times from #1 and #10 tees at 7:30 am and 12:00 pm.  Cut made to the low 60 players and ties.

Thursday, July 12th – Rounds Three & Four stroke play.  Starting
times from #1 and #10 tees at 7:30 am and 12:00 pm

Food & Beverage: Your entry fee includes four lunches at Oak Tree National during the four days of the championship.  You will be provided these meal tickets at player registration.  Additional meal tickets can be purchased from the Trans-Miss on site for $15.   Alcohol and soda are at players’ expense.  No breakfast service will be available at the club.

Contestants’ Banquet:  A contestants’ banquet will be held Monday, July 9th at Oak Tree National beginning at 6:30 pm.  Attire for this function is casual, but players and guests must adhere to the tournament dress code.  If you would like to bring a guest, please notify the Trans-Miss office and bring a check for $25 per guest to player registration.

Groupings and Starting Times:  Round One and Round Two (stroke play qualifying) groupings and starting times will be determined and published on or before July 4th and may be viewed on the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association website (www.trans-miss.com).  Special requests must be submitted in writing to the Trans-Miss office prior to June 24th.  No changes will be made in the groupings and starting times after they are published to the website.

Withdrawal:  In the event you must withdraw from the Championship prior to July 4th, please contact the Trans-Miss office either by email (golf@trans-miss.com) or phone (785-842-0155).  From July 5th through the Championship, please call (913) 568-6089 (Trans-Miss cell phone) and leave a message.  No refund is available.

Payment for Purchases:  Cash or credit card can be used for payment.

Cell Phones:  Cellular Phone usage is prohibited on club property except in the tennis pro shop, locker rooms, parking lots, the covered area outside the pool bathroom facilities, and the designated area near the lifeguard hut. Cellular phones, if carried should be turned off or in silent mode; the use of silent two-way text messaging or emailing devices are permitted.

Caddies:  Caddies are allowed for the championship and a limited number are available through the Oak Tree National golf shop.  Please call in advance to arrange a club caddie.  The cost of caddies is at the player’s expense.

Golf Spikes: Metal golf spikes are prohibited.  Penalty for breach: disqualification.

Carts: Golf carts are allowed for the practice round only.  The cost of a cart during the practice round is at the player’s expense.  All players are required to walk during all stipulated championship rounds.

Driving Range and Practice Facilities: The practice range will be open at 6:30 am each day.  Range balls are for players only and are complimentary.  Post round practice allowed at the short game area or the putting green only.  A player shuttle will be provided from the clubhouse to the practice facilities.

Locker Room & Club Storage:  The clubhouse and locker room open each day at 6:00 am.  Check with the golf shop if club storage is needed.  The locker room is available for restroom and shower facilities.  There will be a limited number of lockers available.  Players will be directed to the locker room staff for assistance.

Electronic Measuring Devices:  Devices that measure distance are permissible in events conducted by the Trans-Miss, however, if during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure a condition that might affect his play, is a breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification.
