Championship Information and Conditions of Competition

This Championship is open to male amateur golfers who are members of regular member clubs belonging tothe Trans-Mississippi Golf Association, and are age 25 or older as of October 16, 2012.  The players of a team are not required to be members of the same club but must be members of a Trans-Miss member club.  Combined team handicap index may not exceed 8.0.

The Senior Division is open to male amateur golfers of regular member clubs belonging to the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association, and are age 55 or older as of October 16, 2012.  The players of a team are not required to be members of the same club but must be members of a Trans-Miss member club.  Combined team handicap index may not exceed 10.0.

All applications are subject to approval or rejection by the Trans-Miss at any time before or after start of championship.

Entrants will be selected by the Trans-Miss Tournament Committee on the basis of past playing performances, past participation and contributions to the Trans-Mississippi Turf Scholarship Fund.

Rules of Play

The Rules of Golf established by the USGA and published in the Rules of Golf booklet for 2012-15 shall be in effect, including those special conditions or local rules established by the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association for this championship.  Any notice or condition stated in the entry form shall also apply.

Entry Procedure

1. All entries must be submitted on the Official Entry Form. Incomplete or inaccurate entry forms will not be accepted.
2. Entry applications must reach the TMGA prior to 4:00 pm, September 24, 2012.
3. The entry fee of $1,250.00 (paid via check or money order payable to the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association) must accompany each entry.  No refunds after the entrants has been assigned a position in the starting field.
4. Entrants will be notified if they have been assigned a position in either division on or before September 24, 2012.  If the number of entries received exceeds available spots, a waiting list will be created.  Spots in the starting field will be offered to entrants on the wait list through October 15, 2012.
5. All entry fee checks will be deposited when received by the Trans-Miss.  If an entrant is not offered a position in the starting field by October 15, 2012, a full refund will be made by November 1, 2012.

Practice Round

Bandon Dunes courses (Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes and Old Macdonald) will be available for a practice round on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 8:00 am to 10:40 am.  Players are entitled to one (1) complimentary practice round.  It is advisable to make tee times for your practice round in advance as your preferred practice round course may become unavailable.  Beginning August 1st, please call (785) 842-0155 or email golf@trans-miss.com.  DO NOT CALL THE BANDON DUNES GOLF SHOPS TO MAKE PRACTICE ROUND TIMES.  A practice round is not guaranteed.

Groupings and Starting Times

Groupings and starting times for Rounds One and Two will be posted at www.trans-miss.com and at the club on or before Monday, October 15, 2012.

Format

54-holes four-ball stroke play, no cut.  Each team will play one competition round on each of the tournament courses (Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes and Old Macdonald).  Practice round included on Monday, October 15, 2012.

Tournament Schedule

Monday, October 15 – Required Player Registration, Practice Round

Tuesday, October 16 – Round One, 18 holes four-ball stroke play

Wednesday, October 17 – Round Two, 18 holes four-ball stroke play

Thursday, October 18 – Round Three, 18 holes four-ball stroke play (playoff, if necessary, to determine champion)

Contestant Information

Conduct

In the best interest of the competition, “unbecoming conduct or behavior” will not be tolerated.  Entries are subject to rejection at any time either before or during competition.  Participants are also requested to observe host club rules and keep in mind that you are a guest of the club as well as a representative of the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association.

Dress Code

Players must be properly attired in collared shirts and slacks or Bermuda shorts of conservative length.  Gym, tennis and “short” shorts are not allowed.  Competitors are expected to be neat in appearance and personal grooming.  Soft spiked golf shoes will be required.  This dress code applies at all times that the contestant is on club grounds.  All dress code provisions also apply to caddies.

Players’ Reception

The Trans-Miss will host a players’ welcome reception at Bandon Dunes Resort on Monday, October 15th at 5:30 pm.  Information on this players function will be made available to entered teams.

Players’ Banquet

The Trans-Miss will host a players’ banquet on Tuesday, October 16th at Bandon Dunes Resort in the main clubhouse.  Information on this function will be made available to entered teams.

Player Registration

All players must register with the Trans-Miss before beginning any practice round.  Registration will take place at the main clubhouse area at Bandon Dunes on Monday, October 15, 2012.  Player information, pairings, etc. will be available at registration.

Carts and Caddies

Carts are NOT allowed at Bandon Dunes Resort.  Caddies are available and advisable.  Contact the caddie master at Bandon Dunes Resort to reserve your caddie.  (541) 347-5875.

Bandon Dunes Resort has several options for on-site lodging within the resort.  Contact the resort directly at (800) 742-0172 or online www.bandondunesgolf.com.  Please reference that you are participating in the Trans-Miss Four-Ball Championship when making your reservation.

Travel Arrangements

It is advisable for teams entering the championship to make your air and travel arrangements as soon as possible to ensure the best flights into the Bandon Dunes area.  North Bend Regional is the closest airport, but you can fly into other airports and drive to Bandon Dunes Resort.  The Bandon Dunes Resort website (www.bandondunesgolf.com) has the information on options for flights and ground transportation.  Note:  Once you arrive at the resort you do not need a rental car.  A resort shuttle system will take you to any golf course, practice area, restaurant or lodging facility.
