Practice Round Starting Times

Please read the entire memo upon receipt as there are some items that may require action on your part prior to your arrival at La Jolla Country Club.

In the event you must withdraw from the event, your earliest possible notification to the Trans-Miss will be appreciated.  Use the above email address or phone number.  No refunds will be made at this point.

Lodging:  The Empress Hotel in downtown La Jolla will be the host hotel for this championship. Reservations can be made via telephone or through the hotel website. Phone reservations can be made by calling (888) 369-9900 and give the group code “Tran-Miss Golf Association 2012″ when making your reservation. Online reservations can be made at www.empress-hotel.com. On the left side of the website under Reservations, please enter the group code “TransMiss” and follow the prompts to complete your reservation at the discounted rate. The discounted rate is available until May 1, 2012.

Contestant Registration:  Required contestant registration will be held on Monday, May 21st from 7:30 am through 2:00 pm at La Jolla Country Club, in the Board Room.  You must register prior to your practice round.  If you do not plan to arrive at the club until Tuesday, May 22nd, please notify the tournament Committee of your late arrival.

At the registration you will receive player gifts, updated event information and have the opportunity to sign the contestants’ appreciation scroll.  The registration will take you 5 to 15 minutes depending on the number of other contestants involved in the process when you arrive.

Practice Round:  A complimentary practice round is available to registered Trans-Miss contestants on Monday, May 21st.   The starting times will be from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.  In order to obtain a practice round starting time you must contact the Trans-Miss office via email golf@trans-miss.com or phone (785) 842-0155 prior to May 14th).  Do not call the La Jolla Country Club golf shop, as they have been instructed to refer you to the Trans-Miss office.

As a courtesy to your fellow competitors, limit your practice to the play of one golf ball at any hole.

Format:  Entrants must be at least 55 years or older on or before May 22, 2012, have a USGA Handicap Index (or equivalent) not exceeding 4.0 in the Championship Division (8.0 in the Super Senior Division) and be a member of Trans-Mississippi Golf Association member club (membership requirement is waived for those entrants receiving a special invitation from the Committee).

The championship will be 54-holes stroke play with two divisions: Championship – age 55 & older and Super Senior – age 65 & older.  There is no cut.

Golf carts are provided for all rounds of the championship (including the practice round). The field will be limited to 120 players.

Monday, May 21st – Required Player Registration, Practice Round

Tuesday, May 22nd – Round One, 18 holes stroke play
Players’ Reception & Banquet at La Jolla Country Club beginning at 6:30 pm

Wednesday, May 23rd – Round Two, 18 holes stroke play

Thursday, May 24th – Round Three, 18 holes stroke play

Groupings and Starting Times:  Groupings and starting times for rounds one and two will be posted on the Trans-Miss website by May 14th.     If you have a special or personal request regarding your time of starting on either Tuesday or Wednesday, please send it to golf@trans-miss.com by May 1st.

Round One – May 22nd – Super Senior Division will play in the morning wave, Championship Division is split between morning and afternoon wave

Round Two – May 23rd – Championship Division will play in the morning wave, Super Senior Division will play in afternoon wave

Round Three – May 24th – Super Senior Division will play in the morning wave, Championship Division is split between morning and afternoon wave and is determined based on two round gross score total.

Players Food & Beverage
: All food and beverage purchases at La Jolla Country Club are at the players’ expense.   You will have a personal charge account at La Jolla Country Club and you will receive a mailed invoice from the club after the event.  Please remit payment to the club promptly. 

Players’ Reception & Banquet.  A players’ banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd at La Jolla Country Club beginning at approximately 6:30 pm. Please note that for this function a coat is requested for men.

Withdrawal:  In the event you must withdraw from the Championship prior to May 18th, please contact the Trans-Miss office either by email (golf@trans-miss.com) or phone (785-842-0155).  From May 19th through the Championship, please call (913) 568-6089 and leave a message.  No refund is available.

Dress Code:  Contestants will comply with the provisions of the host club policy.  Shirts must have a collar and sleeves, shorts are permitted if no shorter than 2” from top of the knee (no denim).  Shirt tails must be tucked inside pants.  Cargo shorts or pants are not allowed.  Headwear, caps and visors shall be worn with bills positioned forward (must be removed upon entering the clubhouse).  Approved golf shoes are required (no metal spikes). Changing of clothes and footwear is allowed only in the locker rooms.  Do not change your shoes in the club parking lot.

Payment for Purchases:  Players will be issued a La Jolla Country Club guest card with an individual account number.  Purchases may be placed on that account, which will be billed by the host club to the player following the championship.  This bill will be mailed to the address provided on your entry form.  Your cooperation is requested by making your payment to the club upon receipt of the billing.

Cell Phones:  Cell phones may be used on the golf course only to contact the Trans-Miss for assistance.  No cell phone use allowed inside the clubhouse.  Cell phone may be used in the parking lot.

Golf carts, Caddies, Club Storage:  A golf cart will be provided to you for all rounds of the championship (included in your entry fee).  If you wish to use a caddie, you may do so at your expense.  No additional golf carts will be allowed beyond two carts per group.  You may have your clubs stored by the golf shop overnight throughout the event.  Let the golf shop know that you would like to have your clubs stored.

Golf Spikes: Metal golf spikes are prohibited.  Penalty for breach: disqualification.

Driving Range and Practice Facilities: The practice range is available each day both before and after your round.

Lockers:  There will be a limited number of lockers available.  Please contact the locker room staff after player registration to have a locker assigned.

Parking:  The player parking area is located near the golf shop and is the most convenient location for you.  Please note any directional signage for contestants in the parking lot.

Electronic Measuring Devices:  Devices that measure distance are permissible in events conducted by the Trans-Miss, however, if during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure a condition that might affect his play, is a breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification.
